Before the prayer, the Muslim must make his ablutions to purify themselves and thus be able to perform the act of prayer. Ablution must be made by means of pure water (tap water for example), no soap. Pure Earth (or a flat stone) can also be used in case of need for prayer in medium free of water, it is called an act of "tayammum"
