On this occasion, SIRU renews its vocation to integrate the various worlds that orbit around the sphere of Medically Assisted Reproduction.
This vocation is translated into the multidisciplinary approach on the level of professional competences: medical, obstetric, nursing, psychological, sociological, anthropological and environmental. This promotes an attitude of great mobility between the various topics dealt with, a continuous oscillation between the human plan and the scientific plan with a particular attention to the means of communication and mass dissemination.
Aware of its ambitious mission, SIRU proposes the integrative approach not only in the field of knowledge but also in terms of territory, through the Regional Congresses organized by its 14 Committees present throughout the Italian territory.
The analysis of the sustainability of the relationship between man and the environment is carried out on the territory, with an ever-increasing attention to the impact of the hostile environment on human fertility.
The structure of the SIRU 2019 National Congress respects the by now classic distribution of scientific contributions in 3 parallel sessions for the first two days, followed by the final plenary.
This year's edition proposes as a novelty a wider space for specialized studies, which occupy the entire day of November 7th for the 6 Pre-Congresses, organized by 7 of the 9 GIS.
The large-scale opening of the Congress on November 8th is evident: they bring their contribution nationally and internationally recognized personalities and representatives of civil society, ranging from the problems of citizenship to those of human reproduction, also from a demographic, health point of view reproductive in cancer patients up to the possible future developmental scenarios of PMA.
The day continues with reports on OverDiagnosis and OverTreatment in PMA (gynecology, andrology, embryology, medical genetics), divergent trends with respect to Evidence Based Medicine, which unfortunately led to distortions with respect to good practices in daily work, to the formation of customs, induction of therapeutic illusions and unrealistic expectations.
Thanks to the contribution of medical consultants, midwives, teachers and professionals in the "mass media / social media" sector, on the same day the other parallel sessions focus on the importance of doctor-patient communication and within working groups, on counseling , on medical-scientific dissemination, on the affirmation of new languages ​​and finally on the development of a new culture of gift.
Important contributions are made in the field of environmental health and fertility with the presentation of the FAST Project (Fertility, Environment, Lifestyles) as a tool to prevent male infertility. Furthermore, studies on obstetric, neonatal and pediatric findings are presented in areas at high risk of pollution.
The Congress constantly dedicates ample space to young people with an entire session reserved for them, while in the oral presentations and in the in-depth studies of specific interest the "old topics" have often been entrusted to the "new voices".
The third day of the Congress proposes in the morning scientific contents oriented to define roles and ways of improving reproductive success, followed by a large space dedicated to the debate on the most urgent topics of interest of our Company, now grappling with the continuous search for best practices , but above all with the drafting of the National Guidelines on PMA and with the proposal of a new Law on Medically Assisted Reproduction.
