This application allows you to receive warnings of sea state conditions on the coast of Costa Rica. wind forecasts, height, wave period and direction, sea surface temperature and sea currents are made, both in the Pacific and Caribbean Costa Rica. You can also check the predictions of tides in major coastal regions of Costa Rica. Additionally, you may receive informational notices consisting of relevant news, definitions, emergency tips and general information.

The main objective is to provide information twice a week sea state on ocean-meteorological events that may pose a threat to marine and coastal our country.

It is aimed at users of the sea that somehow require timely information to develop their safe activities, including fishermen, tourists, surfers, permanent or occasional residents, and government offices, coastguards, port authorities, etc. to distribute warnings in case of a coastal threat.

Module Ocean Information (MIO) is a project created in June 2011 within the Centre for Research in Marine and Limnology (CIMAR) Sciences of the University of Costa Rica (UCR), with financial support from the National Commission on Prevention Risk and Emergency Response (CNE) of Costa Rica.
