The flowers died on Monday, and everything followed on from that. The animals perished, one by one, and then your family. Every last one. The terror of those memories fill you with dread. You remember so well the screams of pain and horror, the panicked whiney of the foul in the stables. You remember the house. It was a beautiful house; gambrel roof, gable windows, immaculate, and it burned so deliciously red as you stood from afar. Everything else you had been prepared for, everything except the blood, the redness of it, the impossible quantities of the stuff. It seeped from their broken bodies, staining the floors a rusty hue. You couldn't go to sleep that night, but neither could you drag yourself into a complete state of wakefulness. You rose numbly from the bed, heading for the tarnished mirror that hung crookedly on the opposite wall. The mirror was a beautiful thing, even in its aged state. The art noveau frame carved from mahogany, its vines and flowers interspersed with birds, butterflies and grinning cherubs. The glass was flawless and smooth, the silver beneath untarnished. It was all you could do not to drag it from the wall and throw it to the floor. In the end you burned it all. The dead animals in the barn, the bodies in the house. That cursed frame that refused to reveal your black soul. For years you wondered the lands, a homeless soul, untouched by time and the people and things that attempted to harm you. You remembered the brutalities of your early days, and pledged to go fourth and erase your past mistakes with good. You would fight this disease, for that's truly what it was no matter how you spun it. That's when you learned about vampire's religion in the eastern realms where, if you convert, you become one of them. They are planning a powerful and dangerous blood ritual. It is time to put an end to this madness and stop the spreading of this sickness once and for all.
