The Jerusalem Bible is a translation of the Bible developed under the leadership of the French Biblical and Archaeological School of Jerusalem. "Conducted by the best specialists of biblical studies, it is currently the most widespread in France and is classic figure." As a collective work, it will fall into the public domain in France on 1 January 2027, 70 years after the date of first publication. Indeed, it was in 1956 that the Jerusalem Bible was published for the first time in a single volume.
The Jerusalem Bible was first published in 1948-1955 in the form of 43 booklets each including translation, introduction and notes.
