Diabetes la carte is a mobile application that lets you manage the daily diet of simple, attractive and balanced manner, breaking the stereotype that prevents diabetes continue to enjoy good food and the pleasure of eating.

IDIBAPS Research Center and the Alicia Foundation (Food and Science) lead this project, in collaboration with ESTEVE.

In the application are the following tools:

1. Carbohydrate Calculator: Allows you to calculate the variables introduced as the amount of carbon hydrates recommended to the needs of each person.

2. Plate Method: create varied and healthy menus tailored to the needs of people with diabetes and their families in an easy and fuss. This system promotes menus without making equivalent amount of carbohydrates you will ingest, thus obtaining better control of their diabetes is altered.
It also allows to know the amount of carbohydrates that you are eating when you're in a restaurant, incorporating the foods and amounts to the application ...
 "The idea is that in a normal size dish the main menu, lunch or dinner is built, dividing it into four parts. Two quarters salad or vegetables, as their carbohydrate content is very low. A quarter of the plate is for protein: meat, fish or eggs. And in the other quarter will flours such as rice, pasta, potatoes, vegetables. Also a piece of medium fruit and bread will be included if necessary ".

3. Equivalence: Foods appear exposed on the amount that provide 20 grams of carbohydrates (equivalent to 2 packs of sugar).

4. Recipes: Very simple and easy to prepare, includes both the adaptation of traditional cuisine dishes as more creative dishes or other cultures.
The amount of carbohydrate that contains the plate, also specified as equivalent sugar packets appears in all recipes.
