The New Testament is the part of the Christian Bible consists of a (authorized) canonical set of books and letters written after the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. It is designated and from Tertullian in the Christian Church. Contrary to the Hebrew Tanakh, called by the Christian Old Testament, Christians, except for the so-called Messianic Jews, have the New Testament in common with the Jews.
The use of the term "testament" comes from the Hebrew word berith ( 'covenant, covenant, agreement or arrangement between two contracting'), through I diatheke Greek, and Latin testamentum. Some authors present the names Old and New Testament with the two main sections in the Christian Bible as the result of a misunderstanding of the word diatheke, which means is divided is designated: 'desire' or 'will', and 'agreement' or 'this criterion convenio'.1 diatheke in Greek would refer to the old and the new covenant of God with men rather than Scripture itself.
Composition of the New Testament
The composition of the New Testament canon was set slowly in the early centuries of the new religion. The oldest one is supposed written around the year 170.
The current list was originally published by Athanasius of Alexandria in 370 and consecrated as canonical in the Third Council of Carthage in 397. However, disputes over the composition of the canon did not cease. Martin Luther questioned the appropriateness of including the Epistle of James, the Epistle of Jude, the Epistle to the Hebrews and Revelation of John or Book of Revelation; but ultimately, unlike the deuterocanonical Old Testament they were never rejected. However, the canonization of 2 Peter, 2 John, 3 John, James and Jude, and Hebrews and Revelation, remains a matter of debate.
It comprises in total 27 books in the canon of the Roman Catholic Church, accepted by most of the churches of the Reformation. The Syrian Church only accepts 22 books in his canon. Books like 1 and 2 Clement, the Book of the Covenant, the Octateuch and others have been disputed and are canonized by other Orthodox Catholic churches

For 248 years, the King James Version was not reviewed in its entirety. In 1708 and 1831 the New Testament was revised, but it was not until 1850 that it became a full review. This work was conducted by the American Bible Society. During the last half of the nineteenth century the King James went through several revisions. The 1909 review was conducted by the British and Foreign Bible Society and is predominant in evangelical churches for 51 years. Today there are still many people and denominations who enjoy reading the 1909 version.
